Topic - Trillavision @ La Feria ISD's Digital Media Camp

LA FERIA, TX., June 6-8, 2022 -  School may be out for summer, but this factor didn’t deter La Feria ISD from hosting its first Digital Media Camp after the final bell rang. Trillavision Media’s Creative Director Waldo P. and Photographer Abraham Hernandez were two of the five instructors invited to speak at the camp.
The Digital Media Camp welcomed 20 students who were interested in a creative career and heard from Rio Grande Valley’s leading professionals in digital media.
“It was amazing to see both Waldo and Abe share so much knowledge with our students,” Megan Monique Trevino said, the high school’s digital media teacher. “They went in depth on what it takes to shoot and create a great video and photo. So many students expressed continued interest in videography and photography because of their experience with Waldo and Abe.”
Students who participated in the Digital Media Camp had the opportunity to hear from five individuals who have careers in video production, photography, and graphic design. The presenters are as follows:
  • Video Production: Waldo P.
  • Photography: Nora Isabel Olivarez
  • Photography: Abe Hernandez
  • Graphic Design: Ernie Salcedo
  • Graphic Design: Yadira Marisol
“It brought me great joy to have been a speaker for La Feria ISD’s Digital Media Camp,” Waldo said. “I had fun teaching the students about video production and giving them tips on how to get started in the industry. The students showed so much curiosity and I hope they learned about a new career path.”
During the camp, Waldo invited Trillavision’s Art Director Hector Guerra to act as the video subject for the students’ video project, which they got to download at the end of the camp. Students set up equipment, completed an interview, and gathered film of Guerra working on an art project.
“It gives me great pleasure to be able to showcase this interview, filmed and edited by the kids,” he said. “I’m very impressed with how it turned out considering we were all having fun and learning this style of filming.”
Hernandez presented his photography background and had the students apply what they learned while using Canon DSLR cameras provided by La Feria ISD.
